Project 17 International
Project 17 has joined forces with JL White International to become Project 17 International, providing powerful business tools that increase revenue, stimulate cash flow and drive profits to your bottom line. To find out more, click here.
Project 17 has partnered with iHub (State-of-California-designated Innovation Hub) partners and with service providers and investors from Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz Counties and from Silicon Valley to provide business mentoring, counseling, technical assistance, and commercialization and tech-transfer services to emerging and small businesses in the Project 17 regional innovation cluster (RIC). Project 17 will support the development and growth of small businesses in the cluster region by coordinating the business development services and activities of service providers that are part of the Project 17 service-provider network.
Market Development, Marketing & Public
Relations
Project 17 associates Blue Marble Marketing,
Smart World Center and Experience Communications provide marketing, marketing research and public relations services to small
businesses in the industry cluster.
We work with the Smart World Center to produce Think-Tank Sessions
to explore and define new domestic and international markets for both large and
small businesses in this industry cluster. Blue Marble and Experience Communications also help
small companies that have new technologies penetrate the existing ag-industry
and sell their products to these companies. Monterey Language Services, the GLOBE Center at the Monterey
Institute of International Studies and the Monterey Bay International Trade
Association assist with international marketing, translation and cultural
localization.
Legal
Services to Small and Emerging Companies
Project 17 associates Virginia Howard, Esq.
of Walker & Reed, LLP; Patrick Reilly, Esq.; and Ian Stock, Esq. provide small and emerging businesses with legal services for business
formation, intellectual property and contract development. Both Virginia and Patrick sit on the
advisory board of the MTC, and all three sponsor the Monterey Bay Regional
Business Plan Competition.
Technology Transfer and Commercialization
Business Cluster Development (Carol Lauffer and Jim
Robbins) and CECO Consulting (Chuck Erickson) are associates of Project 17 from the
work they did in Silicon Valley in the 1990s with that region’s business
incubators. Jim developed the
Environmental Business Cluster (EBC), the Software Business Cluster (SBC), and
the International Business Cluster and directed the EBC. Jim and Carol together developed the
Panasonic Business Incubator which Carol then ran as director, and Chuck
directed the SBC. All three have
extensive experience in technology transfer and commercialization which they bring to bear for the benefit of small businesses in Project 17.
Business & Access-To-Capital Counseling and
Commercialization of Existing Research & Development
Paladin Venture Development works alongside Wavepoint Ventures, Pebble Beach Partners and angel investor Dr. Rock Clapper to prepare small and emerging businesses for capital investment. When these companies have reached the point of fundability, investors bring capital to the table. The other great opportunity for companies to gain exposure to investors is through the Monterey Bay Regional Business Plan Competition, which was developed and produced in May of 2010, and which is being planned for May, 2011.
Business Counseling & Mentoring
Business
training that teaches emerging and small businesses best business and financial
practices is provided by the Marina Technology Cluster, Barich Business
Services, Khan-Bernier, ALBA, our two regional SBDCs (Central Coast and CSUMB)
and Monterey Peninsula College.
